On Saturday, October 18th at 10 AM, Big Trees is hosting a public volunteering event as part of Sandy Springs 20th anniversary celebration and its “20 Ways to Connect” initiative.
Volunteers will focus on removal of Japanese stilt grass, which is an invasive species. Removing invasive species such as this can help maintain a healthy forest environment filled with diverse, native plants.
On the day of the event, please join us near the bathrooms by the main entrance. The Big Trees volunteer board will be there to greet you. All tools will be provided, but you may wish to bring a pair of gloves.
Big Trees relies on volunteers for maintaining and improving the preserve. Rewarding work is available for people of all ages and abilities. Individuals and groups large and small are welcome.
If you're looking for a place to start, consider signing up for an event at Big Trees with a volunteer organization listed below.
Pebble Tossers is a youth development nonprofit with a mission to empower and equip youth to lead through service. This group organizes a volunteer project on the second Saturday of each month at Big Trees.
Looking for other opportunities? Planning a group event, perhaps? We'd love to connect with you to help you get involved at Big Trees.
