- Keep dogs from digging on or off trails

Forests are delicate ecosystems with life at every layer. Good hiker etiquette is important to ensure the health of this environment.
- Stay on trails at all times
- Do not shortcut trails
- Use only main entrances
Protect plant life
Big Trees is home to a vast array of native plant life. Observe their beauty without disturbing them.
- Do not dig, remove, or otherwise modify any plants
- Do not plant new plants of any kind
- No carving on tree trunks
- No climbing on trees
Protect yourself
Take precautions to ensure you and your family avoid any common forest hazards while visiting.
- Be aware of bugs and mosquitoes during warm months and wear bug spray as needed
- Avoid contact with harmful plants such as poison ivy
- Walk carefully and avoid tripping on tree roots
- Do not visit during thunderstorms or dangerous weather
